28 February 2012, Tuesday, Antalya or Istanbul to Kusadasi via Izmir and Pergamum

Meet at your hotel at 5 am and transfer to the airport for a morning flight to Izmir departing at 7 am.
Upon arrival, drive to the House of Virgin Mary located on top of the mountain near Ephesus.
We then visit the ruins at the Hellenistic and Roman Ephesus.
Following lunch, continue with the Temple of Artemis, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
We finish the day at Ephesus Museum where we see artifacts recovered from Ephesus and the other ancient cities around.
Drive to the hotel at the end of the day.
Dinner and overnight in Kusadasi.

29 February 2012, Wednesday,  Kusadasi to Antalya via Ephesus
Drive to Bergama in the morning. Visit the Acropolis of Pergamum located about 1100 feet above sea level. Here, you can see a restored temple of Trajan, a library which was second to the one in Alexandria, fortification walls and a system of aquaduct which brought water from a source that is 30 miles away.
Pergamum Acropolis also houses the famous Zeus Altar. The beautiful friezes of this altar are displayed in Pergamon Museum in Berlin today.
After lunch at a local restaurant, visit the Aesclepium, a medical treatment center and sanctuary dedicated to the God of Aesclepius.
Drive to Izmir Airport for a flight back to Antalya departing at 11pm.
Transfer to your hotel in Antalya upon arrival.

This excursion is designed to start in Antalya. Alternatively, if Istanbul is your point of entry into Turkey, we can arrange your flight to Izmir from there. Please note that transfer from your hotel in Istanbul to the airport on the morning of February 28 should be on your own.
In order to participate on this excursion, you need to arrive in Antalya or Istanbul one day before on February 27. We can assist you with the hotel booking for the additional night.

05 March 2012, Monday, Antalya to Pamukkale
08:30 We drive to Pamukkale in the morning over the Taurus Mountains.
Upon arrival in the late afternoon, visit the ancient city of Hierapolis which was a popular spa and treatment center of the Roman times. Hierapolis has an interesting necropolis with several tombs in different styles.
The name Pamukkale means ‘Cotton Castle’ and refers to the spectacular white lime cascades formed by
the region’s hot springs. Enjoy the thermal water facilities of your hotel for the rest of the day.
Dinner and overnight in Pamukkale.

06 March 2012, Tuesday, Pamukkale to Cappadocia via Konya
This morning, we drive to Cappadocia via Konya.
We stop in Konya to visit the Mausoleum of Mevlana the founder of the mystical Mevlevi sect of whirling dervishes.
We then countinue to Sultanhani Caravanserai, a medieval inn built by Seljuk Turks for caravans traveling in the area.
Arrive in Cappadocia in the early evening.
Dinner and overnight in Cappadocia.

07 March 2012, Wednesday, Cappadocia
A full day excursion of Cappadocia visiting Goreme Open Air Museum where you will find rock cut churches decorated with frescoes bearing biblical scenes.
We continue to Uchisar and Avcilar Valleys, the unusual formations of fairy chimneys, columns of rock shaped by nature. Also visit Kaymakli Underground City.
Dinner and overnight in Cappadocia.

08 March 2012, Thursday, Cappadocia to Antalya or Istanbul
Depart in the morning and drive to Antalya over the Taurus Mountains. Arrive in Antalya in the afternoon.
Alternatively, in order to shorten distance, instead of driving back to Antalya, you can fly to Istanbul from Cappadocia. This flight can be booked at an additional cost.
